Click on the button at the bottom of this page to launch the beta test version of the BackLit Web Application in a browser window. This Application has been tested with the Internet Explorer 6.0 browser. Please let me know if you have trouble using the Application with other versions of Internet Explorer or with other web browsers.
Warning: the Web Application will display two toolbars or menubars. The upper one shows the menu items for the browser itself. Be sure to use the lower toolbar/menubar to access the menu items for BackLit.
You will need to use ASCII braille to enter the input to BackLit Beta. Click here for more information about using ASCII Braille.
A unique feature of BackLit is the option to display the back-translated braille as DotlessBraille. Click here for more information about using these fonts.
The beta version of BackLit is designed to back-translate individual literary braille items. However, the final release version will back-translate entire braille documents.
The beta version of BackLit is designed for easy access by sighted persons and may not be accessible. The release version of BackLit will be fully accessible. If you can't access the beta version but want to be involved in the testing, please email a plain braille or .brf file to the address below.
